Enrolling in Courses
Student Information System
As a student of SFU, you will use the Student Information System. This is a self-service system enabling students to access and update personal information, check your grades, find course schedules and outlines and enroll in your courses. In order to access SIMS, and also to access personal information through the SFU website, students must have an active Computing ID.
SFU Computing IDs are for SFU continuing students. Therefore, you need to be admitted to SFU and accept the offer of admission by paying the admission confirmation deposit first.
Class Search
Use the Search for Classes function on the Student Information System to check for the most up-to-date schedule information:
- Verify "Simon Fraser University" is selected as Institution, and that the term you're looking for is selected
- Click on Search for Classes.
- To Search for all courses available at the Surrey campus, click on Additional Search Criteria and Select Surrey Campus from the drop down campus menu.

Your first year (two terms) at SFU Surrey in the above programs involves the TechOne program. For each term, you are required to enroll in a set of core courses. Along with these core courses, you can choose other elective courses that fit the program you want to go into. Please note that your elective courses can be completed on any SFU campus.
Enrollment for the Fall term will begin in early July. You will only be enrolling for one term (enrollment for the second term that starts in January will not happen until November).
Keep an eye on your SFU email account, which is created once you set up your SFU computing ID and password. You'll be receiving an email and must read this information prior to your enrollment as you will get de-enrolled from courses you enroll for if you do not follow the steps outlined by the TechOne program.
